IM BACK FROM CAMP!!!
Haha.. Back from the leadership training camp organised by ASc... really had a wonderful and meaningful time over the 3 days...
When camp started on fri evening, it was all abt briefings and ice-breaking... Then couldnt get to sleep... as the aircon in the classroom was kinda warm and the whole classroom was very noisy with ppl talking.... And when i was abt to sleep @ 3.30am, someone came in and turned on the lights and woke us all up... to do morning PT! Doing PT at 3.30am!! Ran around the poly and got scolded by engineering sch there the ppl... for shouting cheers as we ran.. After that, continued to play more team-building games...
Had a briefing for community service that we were going to do... and my grp was allocated to bukit merah. Really enjoyed my time wif my teammates as all were very friendly..
When we reached the place, we were supposed to cover 2 households.. but we couldnt get to start work wif 1 of them as there were some inconvenience.. so concentrated on the other household. The moment i stepped into the 3-rm flat, i was shocked to see the kind of environment they were living in. The house was practically empty and untidy. So we spent the 4 hrs cleaning up the house while some guys went to fix up the shelf that the family had bought. Time passed, and it was time to go... but we hadnt finish, so we had to leave the rest for the next day(this community service project lasted 2 days). While waiting for the bus to go to changi, the grp discussed abt the proposal that had to be written.. but my stupid brain of mine couldnt think of anything.. haiz...
Reached changi at 4++ and pitched the tents there. Not long later, it started to have a heavy downpour... as the tent im supposed to be in was not pitched properly, it nearly collasped and the tent collected a 'reservoir' of water... All the bags in the tent were soaked... most of my belongings were soaked such as socks, clothings and my mp3 player!!! I was stunned for a moment and i regretted not putting it into another zip-lock bag... I was really sad as its lifespan was being reduced by the rain... *cries*
Continued to play team-building games before jogging to changi village for our dinner.. After dinner, we had our nite walk and the venue were the old changi hospital and old commando barracks.. I was in a grp wif adelyn and liwei.. and our 1st venue was the old changi hospital.. It was very dark and the moment we entered the place, it was enough to give us goosebumps.. At a point of time, we were distracted by a grp of pplz who came and talked to us.... and we nearly entered 1 of the places which we werent supposed to enter.. Luckily we were directed back to track by mr tan, and we were scolded by him for talking to strangers. So we learnt our lesson: Never talk to strangers! Haha!
After the old changi hospital trip was the old commado barracks. It was nothing scary as it was simply walking up the trail... After the nite walk, adelyn, liwei, stanley, nic, terence and i were among the few who walked all the way back to the campsite and the rest got a lift from mr wallace.... -.-"
After bath, i didnt intend to sleep de. So i juz joined some pplz in their conversation+playing of truth or dare.. But in midway, i was sleepy and i decided to slp, and it was 3-something... I simply grabbed my sleeping bag and laid it outside the tent and slept as there isnt sufficient space in the tent.. Woke up the next morning ard 6+ shivering... Coz it was damn cold to slp outside..haha! After breakfast, we went back to bukit merah to continue wad we hadnt finished. And we realized that we were really short of time to get things done. In the end, we rushed through many things such as buying of rations and sending them to the owners. Luckily we managed to finish them on time. After that, we went back to sch for our debrief. I like the speech made by mr wallace, commenting abt community service. It really knocked my senses.
There are many things i had learnt in this camp and didnt have any regrets. While doing the community service project, I really pitied the family for living in such an environment, and the children couldnt live in a healthy environment too. I, too, made many friends during this camp and i like my team-- THE BUKIT MERAH VIEWERS! Really hoping that i can get into the sub-comm of the ASc as i want to learn new things and gain experiences...
